Steele and Steel (18/3/25)
Another day with the excellent Steele crew putting in steel under the house and pouring concrete into the extension piers with MiniPump. Tomorrow the big PFC380 is going up along the garage side.
It takes a lot of time to make sure that the existing beams are straightened and all the steel is placed correctly. Some steel beams are PFC360s and they weigh a ton (well nearly), good to have the 5T excavator on site to help lifting.
Some 130yo bearers were extremely uneven but it’ all straight again.
Tomorrow hopefully start again on moving more dirt before finishing the steel beams and then lift & shift. Nothing happens in a hurry. Looking forward to having this part done asap.
Oh, also finally got revised engineering plans back for the RW footings, I picked up that due to the height the footings and blockwork must be bigger… so more excavations with the 5T’ner but also some by hand (well with a jackhammer which I will buy as opposed to rent).
