Building Approval
After getting BCC Development Approvals on Wednesday 15 January 2025 we needed to get Building Approval (BA) which meant that our Building Certifier has to issue the development permit for carrying out the actual building works. The BA consists of (1) a Decision Notice and (2) Approved Plans.
Without building approval you can’t do any building works including demolition (except for internally of course). Make sure that you check the architectural designs and the engineering designs as there will most likely be some questions coming your way.
Getting BA was not that involved, just make sure that you talk with your private certifier and answer any questions, such as in relation to retaining wall heights if they are over 2000mm high (as different rules apply).
We got our BA on 30 January 2025, only two weeks after DA.
